Tulare County Early Childhood Education Program

Family Child Care Network

Child Care The Family Child Care Network (which includes Migrant Head Start) provides child development services for children ages 0-6 by contracting with licensed family child care homes. Staff work with the child care home providers to integrate all the components of Head Start into the daily program of child care activities. Another integral part of the program is to link the families with services in the community since they may not be aware of help that is available due to their migratory jobs.

Migrant Head Start

To be eligible for the Migrant Head Start Program, a family must earn a majority of its income from agricultural work, and the entire family must have moved within the last 24 months.

The Migrant Head Start Program provides child care and educational services to migrant families in two ways. The majority are cared for through contracts with licensed family child care homes throughout the county. In addition, one migrant classroom serves preschool children at the Richgrove Center.
