Substitute Cook Positions at SCICON

The SCICON food service program is frequently in need of substitute cooks to help prepare the meals at SCICON. SCICON has a full-sized professional kitchen and typically prepares meals for over 200 children and adults. Substitutes in the SCICON kitchen should be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time, be able to lift 50 pounds, and work without close supervision or assistance. Previous professional food preparation experience is preferred.

Substitutes must go through all employment application procedures of Tulare County Office of Education, including a fingerprint background check as well as TB clearance. The fingerprint background check and TB clearance must be done at the substitute's own expense. Substitutes must be willing to work on an "on-call" basis and can expect to work from four to eight hours when called. Weekend work with conference groups may also be available.
