Substitute Naturalist Positions at SCICON

The SCICON program is frequently in need of substitute instructors to teach groups of fifth- or sixth-grade students at SCICON. Substitute instructors should have a love of children and the outdoors. Experience in working with children and a knowledge of natural history is preferred. Substitute instructors must also complete a Naturalist Training Workshop at SCICON.

Substitutes must go through all employment application procedures of Tulare County Office of Education, including a fingerprint background check as well as TB clearance. The fingerprint background check and TB clearance must be done at the substitute's own expense. Substitutes must be willing to work on an "on-call" basis and can expect to work 2.5 to 5 hours when called. To inquire about the process of applying for a substitute naturalist position, or the date of the next Naturalist Training Workshop, please e-mail Dianne Shew, SCICON Program Specialist, or call her at (559) 539-3513.
