SCICON Summer Academy

SCICON Logo This summer, SCICON is unveiling a new program for students who will be entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2012. The SCICON Summer Academy will be a combination summer camp and academic experience. Each week-long session will allow students to participate in outdoor recreational activities every morning, and work on fun and engaging academic projects each afternoon.

The 6-day Summer Academy will be offered twice:
  • June 17 - 22, 2012
  • June 24 - 29, 2012
Registration is limited to 75 students per session and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

SCICON Summer Academy During morning activities, students will be able to choose from outdoor activities, including:
  • Camping, archery and survival skills
  • Outdoor adventure sports (ropes course, mountain biking, rock climbing)
  • Nature studies and arts & crafts
Afternoons will be spent under the supervision of credentialed teachers enjoying one of these academic pathways selected by the student, including:
  • Technology (website design, multimedia presentations, video game programming)
  • Engineering (robotics)
  • Museum wildlife studies
Evenings will include favorite SCICON activities:
  • Campfire
  • Astronomy
  • Games
  • Skit night
  • Talent show
The Summer Academy includes lodging in SCICON's student cabins and all meals. The daily schedule will keep students active and entertained throughout the day.

7:30 Breakfast
8:30-12:00 Outdoor activities
12:15 Lunch
1:00 Showers
1:30-4:30 Academic Projects
4:30-5:15 D.E.A.R. Time (Drop Everything And Read)
5:30 Dinner
6:15 Free Time
7:15 Evening Activities
9:30 Lights Out
